Luxembourg Rose of Tralee

Tralee is a picturesque market town, which stands on the coast of County Kerry, in the South West of Ireland. The town is surrounded by immense physical beauty and is renowned for the warm welcomes with which its visitors are embraced. All of these natural resources are to be seen at their glittering best every August, during the celebrated Rose Of Tralee festival.

It is with great pleasure that Luxembourg takes part in this five day celebration of the town of Tralee and that great Irish concept known as having the "craic", roughly translated as having an absolute ball in the most pleasant of surroundings. We are also very proud of the fact that Luxembourg is currently the only continental European country with a Direct entry to the finals in Tralee.

Despite all of the high jinks and merriment, the unchallenged focus of the Festival takes place at the impressive Festival Dome, with the choosing of the Rose of Tralee, the undoubted star of the show.

The criteria for the judges are not those of a beauty contest - girls are selected as much, if not more so, for their personality as for their looks - a girl befitting of the Rose of Tralee title will have not only beauty, but also personality, talent and charm. The idea behind the Rose of Tralee is to select the most suitable Irish girl for the title from a line-up of contestants who are sent from all over the world to represent their country at the Festival.
